Banana Milkshake – A quick milkshake recipe with banana, vanilla ice cream, and milk flavored with vanilla essence. A perfect summer treats with the goodness of banana that you can whip in less than 10 minutes.

Milkshake is a popular drink simply prepared by blending milk, ice cream, and different flavorings. I always love to add fruits in my milkshake, and here is a vanilla-flavored milkshake with banana. You can call this as banana ice cream smoothie as well. :-)

Rain or shine whenever we go to “In and Out” burgers, we always order a vanilla milkshake. The thick and yummy milkshake is a heavenly drink. (Forget about the calories and sugar here) I always wanted to try it at home but keep it simple. I won’t say it’s a copycat recipe of the same but a similar one with banana.

When we have overripe bananas at home, we always think about banana bread. And this “shelter in place” situation also bumped it up. I love banana bread too, and you can find the vegan banana bread recipe on my blog as well. My point is you can make several other recipes with ripe banana, and one such recipe is this banana milkshake. Be it firm or semi-ripe or overripe or frozen, all bananas work well for this milkshake.

A similar milkshake with banana and chocolate/chocolate malt is quite popular in Kerala and that’s is known as Sharjah shake. I will share that soon. Meanwhile, you can check my strawberry milkshake.  There is no set measure for this milkshake. You can adjust the measurements according to your preference and also check my recipe notes for all the ice cream variations.

    2 in 1 Milkshake Videos-

I made a 2 in 1 video of how to make both banana milkshake and strawberry milkshake and you can check it out here.

    Other Milkshake Recipes-

And if you are looking for other banana recipes then these out.

    • Vegan banana bread
    • Banana splits
    • Banana biscuit halwa
    • Peanut butter banana smoothie
    • Overnight oats with banana

    How to make banana milkshake-

    • There are no big steps. Just add all the ingredients and blend them. I used 1 banana, 1 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla essence, and ½ cup ice cream. And I used my Blendtec and blended it using the smoothie setting.
    • I garnished it with some chocolate chips and grated chocolate chips. You can use nuts or dried fruits as well.

    Recipe Notes-

    • You can use semi-ripe to overripe bananas. Frozen banana works well too.
    • There is no set measure for this recipe. You can adjust the ingredients according to your preference.
    • Also, instead of vanilla ice cream, you can use butterscotch ice cream or caramel flavored ice cream. That goes well in this milkshake, or you can opt for Indian flavored ice creams like rasmalai or the raj bhog flavor.
    • I did not add any sugar. If required, you can use sweeteners of your choice.
    • Garnishing is optional. You can use any garnishing of your choice.
