Aloe Vera Juice | Homemade Lemon and Ginger Flavored Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe Vera – this succulent has a long history of being used for medicinal purposes. And today I am going to share few benefits of aloe vera as well as homemade fresh aloe vera juice recipe with the hint of lemon and ginger. To put it simple words, I am going to share lemon, and ginger flavored aloe vera juice.

Aloe Vera history backs to Egyptian civilization. It is an evergreen perennial that grows in tropical climate worldwide. Walk into any cosmetic aisle; you will find the aloe based moisturizer, shampoos, body wash, face wash, creams and what not? These days, you can see aloe gels and drinks in the health aisle as well.

We all know the soothing and healing property of aloe vera. No wonder all the skin care products go behind aloe vera. That very same feature made me go behind aloe as well. :-) I have had acne issues for a long time but never worried too much about them as they weren’t painful. Last October my acne got worse, and it became excruciating (no, I am not exaggerating). With super sensitive skin, I had no choice other than to consult my Primary Care Physician.

I am still on prescribed acne medication, but as a side effect of the medicines, skin peeling and skin irritation started to occur. Apparently, that’s how the acne medicines work. Coconut oil did help but I wanted some soothing natural coolant, and aloe vera was my first choice. Luckily, we do get fresh aloe here in the grocery store (it’s high time, I need to plant my own) and that lead me to my aloe vera exploration.

I had no clue how to cut aloe vera and which part to use even. As usual Lord, the Google helped me, and I was so amazed seeing the other medicinal benefits of aloe. The Natural Healers website gave me a lot of insights about aloe and this YouTube video taught me how to cut the aloe.

I had a lot of aloe vera, and I was using very little for my face. I usually apply the gel (mashed/blended) and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes and washed it away. I did not want to freeze the aloe so started looking for alternatives. Hair mask was one option (just blended some aloe gel, coconut oil and applied. Let it sit for 30 minutes and wash it off) but aloe juice was equally enticing as well.

I know the internet is brimming with a lot of aloe juice recipes, but I thought sharing what I tried. :-) Without any further delay, here is my aloe vera juice recipe.

Aloe Vera Juice | Homemade Lemon and Ginger Flavored Aloe Vera Juice

Homemade fresh aloe vera juice recipe with the hint of lemon and ginger.

AloeVeraJuice

Ingredients:

  • Chopped Aloe Vera (Gel part) – 1.5 cups
  • Water – 2 cups
  • Ginger – 2-inch piece
  • Sugar – 4 tsps or as required
  • Lemon – 1, medium sized

Steps:

AloeVera

  • Cut the aloe vera and extract the gel part alone. I am still learning to chop it correctly. I had to chop in multiple steps to extract the gel. Make sure you are only using the middle portion.

AloeVeraJuice

  • Peel the ginger skin and chop it roughly.
  • Blend the chopped aloe, ginger along with water.

  • Squeeze in the lemon juice and add the sugar.
  • Mix it well. Strain the juice and refrigerate.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Too much intake of aloe juice and gel is not recommendable. So I would suggest diluting the prepared juice further with little more water. I took 3/4 cup of the ready juice and mixed quarter more cup of water before serving.

Notes:

  • You can adjust the amount of ginger, sugar and, lemon as per your preference.
  • You can include any citrus juice and also mint.
  • Instead of sugar, you can use honey or jaggery.

This sounds great… I have little aloe vera plant and can’t wait until it grows and I can make this! I love your blog, by the way, so happy to have found it!

Would love hear back from you. Drop in your feedback and comments. Thanks
