This chutney is the simple dates and tamarind chutney that we use in chaat recipes. This sweet and sour chutney is popularly known as the Imli and Kajur Chutney. I love this chutney in my sandwich, and also I add these to my salads.

I prepared this recipe for my dahi bonda. You can find the green chutney with curry leaves here and here comes the sweet chutney.

    Ingredients:

    • Deseeded dates – 10 to 12
    • Tamarind paste – 2 tbsp (If you are using tamarind, take gooseberry sized tamarind)
    • Black salt – ¼ tsp
    • Red chilly powder – ¼ tsp
    • Cumin powder – ½ tsp

    Steps:

    If using tamarind,

    • Soak the dates and tamarind for minimum 30 minutes
    • Cook them for up 15-20 minutes by adding 1 cup of water.
    • Let it cool and grind them with the other dry ingredients.

    If using tamarind paste,

    • Soak the dates for 30 minutes
