A delicious sundal/legume stir-fry prepared with garbanzo beans / Vellai Kondakadalai as we say in Tamil spiced up with coriander and red chili powder.

A delicious sundal/legume stir-fry!

– 1 cup Dry Garbanzo Beans – 5 cups Water for soaking and pressure cooking. – 1 tsp Salt – 2 tsp Coriander powder – 1 tsp Red chili powder – 3 Dried red chilies – 2 tsp Oil – ¼ cup Coconut grated –1 tsp Mustard seeds – 1 tsp Urad dal – 5 Curry leaves – 1 tsp Hing

Step 1

Soak the garbanzo beans overnight and pressure cook it for up to 2 whistles and drain the water.

Steps 2-3

Heat the kadai and add oil. Once the oil is hot add mustard seeds, urad dal, hing, curry leaves and split red chilies.

Steps 4-5

When they start to splutter, then add the cooked beans. Followed by the salt, coriander and red chili powder.

Steps 6-7

Mix well and cook until the water evaporates. Now add the grated coconut and mix well.

Step 8

That's all the garbanzo beans sundal is ready.
