Stove-top instructions:Add the milk to a saucepan and warm it over medium-low heat. As soon as you see tiny bubbles, you can add the chocolate—no need to bring it to a boil.
Add the white chocolate, and using a hand whisk, gently mix until the chocolate melts.
Add in the peppermint extract and when it comes to a gentle simmer, turn off the heat.
Serve immediately topped with crushed candy canes.
Microwave instructions:Add the milk and microwave for 45 to 60 seconds in a microwave-safe glass or pitcher.
Now add the white chocolate and microwave again for 45 seconds. I did not adjust the power settings, and I went with the high setting.
Mix well, and by now, the chocolate would have melted. Add the peppermint extract and serve warm. Add your favorite toppings and enjoy.
Notes
I used A2 whole milk for this recipe. You can use reduced-fat milk too. PS - I haven't tested this recipe with any other plant-based milk.
You need 3 to 4 oz of white chocolate chips for this measure—no need to add extra sugar.
Adjust the amount of peppermint extract to taste.
You can top the white-hot chocolate with whipped cream or marshmallows too.
