– Rinse all the dals and soak in water. Then drain.– Set the Instant Pot in saute mode and add oil. Add the bay leaf, slit green chilies, and asafoetida when the oil is hot. Add the chopped onion and saute. Then add ginger-garlic paste and saute again.
– Close the Instant Pot. Ensure the sealing ring is in place, and the vent should be in the sealing position. Pressure cook the dal for 20 minutes at high-pressure mode and let the pressure release naturally.
– Parallely, heat the ghee in a separate pan, and when it is hot, add the cumin seeds and dried red chilies. When the cumin seeds sizzle, add the tempering to the dal.– Finally, garnish it with cilantro. Serve the dal with rice, roti, or jeera rice.
