Mashed Potatoes

A simple boiled potato recipe with a hint of garlic perfect for toddlers.

Ingredients

  • Potatoes – 5 to 6
  • Water for boiling the potato
  • Garlic clove – 1
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Pepper – 1.5 tsp
  • Heavy Cream or Milk – ½ cup to ¾ cup depending upon the consistency
  • Butter – 2 tsp
  • Finely chopped herbs of your choice optional – 1 tsp

Instructions

  • Boil the water and add the salt.
  • Once the water boils add the potatoes and the garlic and let it become tender completely.
  • The consistency should be – when you insert a fork it should go in smoothly and should be able to mash it.
  • Let it cool and peel of the skin and crumble the potatoes slightly with fork.
  • Now heat the pot & add the butter and these potatoes.
  • Add the cream/milk and pepper powder and mash it with a potato masher. If you don’t have a masher just use the regular ladle and press it nicely.
  • Let the potatoes and the cream incorporate well and add additional cream if required and let it cook for couple of minutes and that’s it.
  • Mashed potatoes are ready. Obviously I served it with gravy and that’s for tomorrow.

Notes

Heavy cream can be replaced with any milk of your choice.
Herbs like chives and rosemary can be added.
More garlic cloves can be added according to your taste preference.
