Manga-Thenga Pattani Sundal | Peas Sundal with Raw Mango and Coconut

Today I am sharing one of my favorite sundal recipe. It is the Manga – Thenga Pattani Sundal or Peas Sundal with raw mango and grated coconut. This sundal is a blend of all flavors. I prepared it with frozen peas, so no soaking no pressure cooking. If you forget to soak legumes or if time is pressing, this sundal is the best bet.

Last saturday, when I went to my friends place for thamboolam, She had prepared two sundals; one was the garbanzo beans sundal and the other one was the peas sundal. She let us to pick the sundal that we liked and packed the same in the thamboolam :-) That peas sundal reminded me of my periyakulam days.  There were road side vendors who used to sell thavala vadai and this sundal. The sellers call this sundal as, “kara saramana manga thenga pattani sundal”.  I know this is also a popular beach side snack.

After trying the peas sundal at my friends place, I started craving for the manga thenga pattani sundal. So I tried it right away and here I am presenting the same. Along with grated raw mango and coconut, I added grated carrots too.

Notes:

  • I used frozen peas (not the petite ones). You can also use the dry ones by soaking them overnight and pressure cooking them.
  • Adjust the salt and spices as per your preference.
  • Instead of red chilly powder, you can add two or three broken red chillies.
