WaterMelon Ginger Juice

Finally summer started. Being in bay area, I shouldn’t complain about the heat. But still, I am a fall / spring person. I do like the long day light of summer and the summer fruits, especially melons. Back in India, summer is accompanied with Coconut water, Sugarcane juice and Nungu (Sugar palm). I miss all these three here US. I do get fresh cane juice sometimes, but other two nooooo :-(

Water melons – like or don’t like fruit. I have seen many people, including my mom who doesn’t like water melons. and people who just love them and eat/drink it in any form and  I fall under that category. :-) Whenever I feel like drinking cane juice, I prepare this water melon juice. If the water melons are sweet, the combination of ginger and water melon quenches my urge to drink cane juice. All you need for this juice is just water melon and fresh ginger.

So basically I took half of water melon and chopped them into small chunks and blended it along with 1 inch of fresh ginger. (Peel the ginger skin) And that’t it, yummy water melon juice is ready. If your water melon is not sweet, you can add roohafza.  Vaandu likes it with roohafza.

Here I am welcoming summer with a simple juice. Happy Summer :-)

Ingredients:

  • Water Melon – 1/2 of medium sized fruit (about 3 cups)
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Sugar / Roohafza – optional

Steps:

  • Peel the watermelon skin and take out the pulp.
  • Peel the ginger skin and chop them roughly.
  • Now blend them both together. 

That’s it. Yummy Water melon juice is ready.

Notes:

  • No water is required for this juice. Water melon provides the water content. If required you can add around 1/2 cup.
  • Depending upon the water melon sweetness, add sugar.
  • Rose Syrup or Roohafza can be added for additional refreshing taste.
